Croftnahaven Farm Cottage

Fireplace re-build
Project Description

The customer requested a new fireplace made from granite as the original had been altered previously and wasn’t fit for purpose. It also suffered from substantial damage. An additional request was made for space to fit in wood burning stove. We overcame a number of challenges. The window next to the fireplace was eating into structure. This meant the original openings could not be used. The structure also needed to be made safe. Recycling was another issue. Stone had to be supplied from reclaimed sources and the granite had to be split and dressed to size and all taken into house. All subsequent rubble was ripped out and recycled at Ritchies Quarry Aviemore.
